Genetic Kidney Diseases (GKDs) can be loosely categorized into those originating within the kidney itself, such as cystic and glomerular kidney diseases, tubulopathies and congenital abnormalities of the kidney and urinary tract; or circulating diseases arising from elsewhere in the body that lead to kidney damage and failure, which include complement disorders, nephrolithiasis, and unexplained kidney failure.
